ISLAND FESTIVAL

The Island Festival is at the Saloum River Delta, in the Fatick Region,
from 23 December 2016 – 1 January 2017.

The Island Festival is an annual multifaceted cultural and environmental event. As part of the festival you’ll have the opportunity to experience ecotourism and educational travel.

The Festival brings attention to the unique natural and cultural heritage of the Saloum River Delta.
It promotes various local cultural forms of expression and wants to create opportunities for local artists.

As a participant you can either join the whole festival program, or choose a specific subject based trip.

You will stay at Centre Fagaru, a 30 hectares property at the heart of a larger protected coastal forest facing superb mangrove covered creeks that connect the site to the numerous islands of the river and the white sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. Here you will experience nature combined with traditional afrikan style living and cooking.

Centre Fagaru is location nearby Saloum River Delta national park, it consist of marine protected areas and other sites of ecological and historic importance. The center offers great possibilities for combining educational and recreational activities. Guests can enjoy the natural surroundings and participate in a variety of guided tours to discover the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region.

Rooms

The center offers different living opportunities either you prefer the silence and proximity of nature or a bit more comfort.

All the rooms are decorated in a style that reflects the art and cultural heritage of Senegal.

There are rooms and 2-room apartments available, suited for couples, individuals, groups or families.

Diet

The center has its own restaurant that serves 3 meals a day with both buffes and à la carte options. The meals can be enjoyed inside the restaurant or by the riverside. You can also order fresh fruit, snacks and fresh tropical drinks throughout the day. Serving starts at 07 am and last throughout the day until midnight. All the food is prepared on site, and are from local producers.

You can travel from 22. December 2016 to 02. January 2017,
or from 26. december 2016 – 06. January 2017.
It’s also possible to individually custom travel dates.

Prices for the travel and attendance at the festival will vary depending on roomprefferances, attendance at the subject based workshops, and the total number of travelers.

The price for one person is between 17 000 – 23 000 NOK, including flight tickets, transportation, accommodation, workshops and events in Senegal.
